MCBC'S 11TH ANNIVERSARY GALA

The Monterey County Business Council's 11th Anniversary Gala was held on Saturday February 3, 2007, paying special tribute to twelve Monterey County Wine Industry Pioneers.
Honorees were: Mirassou Vineyards, Paul Masson, Wente Vineyards, Chalone Vineyards, Almaden Vineyards, McFarland Farming (now Scheid Vineyards), Prudential Insurance Corporation & Southdown Land Company (now San Bernabe Vineyards), Ventana Vineyards, J. Lohr Winery, Junction Viticulture (now Valley Farm Management), and Durney Vineyards (now Heller Estate Organic Vineyards).

The evening began with a reception on the historic Quarterdeck of the Naval Postgraduate School, followed by dinner and program in the Barbara McNitt Ballroom. Special thanks to San Bernabe, Mirassou, Chalone, Ventana Vineyards, Scheid Vineyards, Heller Estates and J.Lolr Winery for providing an excellent selection of outstanding wines, both for the reception and the dinner. MCBC President Mary Ann Leffel, Wells Fargo Bank, made welcoming remarks. Leffel introduced Rhonda Motil, Executive Director of the Monterey County Vintners & Growers Association, who presented a short video on Monterey County wines. Monterey County, Chief Administrative Officer, Lew Bauman, provided poignant comments on the economic importance of the Monterey County wine industry to the county. Three presenting sponsors distributed the awards. Claude Hoover, San Bernabe Vineyards, provided award comments with considerable background knowledge and humor.
