The Monterey County Business Council honored the "Monterey County Golf Industry Pioneers" for their outstanding contribution to the economic vitality, growth and preservation of Monterey County. The awards were presented at the Council's 12th Anniversary Gala on Saturday, February 2, 2008, at the Inn at Spanish Bay.

18 individuals and organizations that have contributed to the success of golf in Monterey County, dating back to 1898, were recognized this year:

Bing Crosby, Sally Dodge, Joann Dost, Ted Durein, Ed Haber, Peter Hay, Marion Hollins, Nick Lombardo, General Robert McClure, James Melville, Monterey Peninsula Foundation, Samuel F. B. Morse, Bill Murray, Dian Murphy, Northern California Golf Association, Pebble Beach Company, Ken Venturi and John Zoller.
