Monterey County Business Portal




The Monterey County Business Portal is a public/private partnership that was launched as an initiative of the Competitive Clusters (C2) project in order to improve communications efficiency and accessibility of information for economic development within this geographically large county; consolidate and upgrade existing static, non-database, business-related Web resources; foster entrepreneurship for job creation and economic diversification within the region; provide access to expert advice and deep knowledge in relevant industries via a trusted support network and knowledge base; and improve the overall image of Monterey County as a business and technology-friendly community.

   Greywater and Water Catchment Systems

The City of Monterey, the Monterey County Business Council, and the C2 Green Building Committee presented a Monterey County Greywater Roundtable on February 27, 2009 to kick-off an open process to establish installation guidelines for greywater and water catchment systems in Monterey County.    Renewable Energy Permitting

The Monterey County Business Council, the County of Monterey and the C2 Green Building Committee presented a Monterey County Renewable Energy Permitting Forum on 2/23/09 with over 80 participants coming together for an open dialogue on removing barriers to the adoption of clean power production.    StepUp2Green

The Monterey County Business Council unveiled a green home remodeling rating program called StepUp2Green to provide homeowners the information, guidance and incentive to implement upgrades to home and property that will save energy and water while enhancing indoor air quality. Started by local Monterey Bay region community members, StepUp2Green is guided by the principals of simplicity and accessibility. Click here for more information.

   Career Readiness Certificate

The Monterey County Business Council is spearheading the creation of a Career Readiness Certificate to certify worker skills. The mismatch between the skills required for most jobs and the skills of the U.S. workforce is having a significant impact on productivity and revenue across all businesses and industries. Best Places To Work 2010


Come September 24th, 12 companies will have bragging rights. That is when the Monterey County Business Council will present awards to the "Best Places To Work" in Monterey County. More than 75 companies representing private, enterprise, nonprofit, and public / government organizations are expected to participate in the project.
